Redwater High School Class of 2023 Top Ten Graduates

CONGRATULATIONS to the RHS Top Ten Graduates...

 

BROOK USREY is the daughter of Scott and Amy Usrey. She is graduating with a 4.0 GPA, has 35 college credit hours and is Redwater High School’s 2023 Valedictorian.

Usrey is a volunteer coach for Redwater Youth Sports Association, a three-year varsity athlete in volleyball and powerlifting and a four-year varsity athlete in softball,  where she has been awarded the Academic All-District Award in volleyball for the past three years and softball for the past four years. She received the Elite Academic All-State Award in volleyball and powerlifting this year. She is also a two-year state qualifier in powerlifting, and she was awarded the Softball Newcomer of the year in 2021 and received the Softball Offensive MVP in 2022. 

Academically,  Brooke is a former member of the UIL mathematics team. She currently serves as vice-president of student council and the National Honor Society. She is president of Key Club, a member of HOSA, a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of READY.

     Usrey received the Distinguished Freshman Academic Scholarship to Henderson State University, where she plans to attend this fall and pursue a degree in engineering.

 

    MASON WINDHAM is the son of Matthew and Stephanie Windham. He is graduating with a 4.0 GPA, 32 college credit hours and is Redwater High School’s 2023 Salutatorian. 

     He is a prominent member of the Redwater Dragon Band. He is a four-year member of the marching band, where he earned 7th and 8th place at state and a three-year member of jazz band, where he qualified for area in 2022 and 2023. In concert band, Mason qualified for All-Region in 2020, for area in 2022 and 2023, and for state concert band in 2023. 

     Academically, Windham is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, where he serves as media coordinator,  and the President of Spanish Honor Society. He is also a member of FCCLA, where he qualified for state competition in 2020 and 2021.

     Windham plans to attend Northwestern State University in Louisiana, where he has been awarded the Louisiana Scholars’ Package, to pursue a degree in music business. After graduating, Mason plans to work for a major music cooperation building drum sets. 

 

     CORT TITTLE is the son of Matt and Katie Tittle and Marina Stanley. He is graduating with a 4.00 GPA, has 26 college credit hours and is graduating third in his class. 

     He is a member of Key Club and a four-year member of the Redwater High School football and baseball teams, where he earned Team All-District Baseball Award and 1st Team All-State Academic Award for football and baseball and he was a three-year member of Redwater’s track team, and a four-year member of Dragon TV. 

     Tittle received the Regents Scholar Program Scholarship to Texas A & M University in College Station and will be attending there in the fall to pursue a degree in engineering. He plans to become a chemical engineer.

 

     TAYLOR MARKHAM is the son of David and Jennifer Markham. He is graduating with a 3.96 GPA, has earned 38 college credit hours and is graduating fourth in his class from Redwater High School.

     He is a member of Redwater's tennis team, where he participated in regional competition in 2022. Markham is a member of Fellowship Christian Athletes and is a leader of READY, a student founded Christian organization, where he organized a community-wide fundraiser for Redwater ISD that raised $2,500 for needy families. He also raised money for the Redwater Clothes Closet in the amount of $750. 

     Academically, Markham is president of the senior class and the National Honor Society. He is a member of the UIL social studies team, a member of Spanish Honor Society, the president of HOSA,where he has also earned a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification, the Vice-President of Key Club, a member of the Superintendent’s Dragon Cabinet, a member of the Redwater ISD Collaborative Vision Committee, a member of the TISD Lunchroom Committee and has recently been a member of the Student Health Advisory Committee. 

     Markham received the Eagle Elite Scholarship to Texas A & M, Texarkana, where he plans to attend in the fall and major in nursing to obtain a Bachelor of Science, with future plans of becoming a nurse practitioner.  

 

     KAMI WELLS is the daughter of Kathy Rich. She is graduating with a 3.98 GPA, 26 college credit hours and is graduating fifth in her class from Redwater High School. 

     Wells was a member of the Redwater cheerleading team from 2019-2023, where she earned All-American this year. She was a three-year Redwater Dragon Band member, where she served on the leadership team for two years, and as a member of the jazz band. Wells is in the Spanish Honor Society, TAFE, where she earned a gold medal in state competition for teacher appreciation in 2021-2023, UIL number sense, calculator applications and accounting, where she placed fifth in district competition. Wells serves as president of Redwater’s chapter of FCCLA and was the Texas State Vice-President of Achievement for FCCLA. She received first place in state FCCLA Food Innovations in 2021, which qualified her for the national competition, where she received a gold medal. 

     She received a tuition scholarship at University College of the Ozarks, where she will be attending in Spring of 2024 and will be pursuing a degree in accounting. She wants to be a CPA.

 

     MACY CALHOON is the daughter of Greg and Tanya Calhoon. She is graduating with a 3.94 GPA, has earned 26 college credit hours and is graduating sixth in her class from Redwater High School.

     Calhoon is a four-year member of the Redwater High School Band, where she has been the drum major for the past two years and led the band to place 7th in state in 2022. Individually, she qualified for All Region and Area for the past three years. 

     She is also a member of the Redwater Athletic Program, where she is a part of volleyball and softball. She was awarded Second Team Academic in volleyball this year, and she was awarded Academic All-District in 2021 and Second Team All-District Flex in 2022. She also received the coach’s choice Dragon Heart Award in 2022. 

     Academically, Calhoon is the treasurer for the senior class, a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, where she serves as historian, a member of Key Club and READY.

     She received the Presidential Scholarship from Ouachita Baptist University and will be attending there in the fall to pursue a degree in communications sciences and disorders. She plans to become a pediatric speech therapist.

 

     ISABEL TURNER is the daughter of Nathan and Tania Turner. She is graduating with a 3.92 GPA, 38 college credit hours and is seventh in her class. 

     Turner is a four-year member of the Redwater track, volleyball, and basketball teams. She has earned three-time Regional Qualifier in track, and is an Academic All-District award winner for track, volleyball and basketball. She has been awarded Second Team Academic All-State for volleyball and First Team Academic All-State for basketball. 

     In addition to sports, she is a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Turner received the East Texas Coach’s Association Scholarship and the Presidential Merit Scholarship for Texas Tech, where she will be attending in the fall to pursue a degree in kinesiology. Isabel plans to become a licensed pediatric occupational therapist. 

 

      GABRYEL MENAH is the daughter of Bobby and Donna Menah. She is graduating with a 3.98 GPA, has earned 32 college credit hours and is graduating eighth in her class from Redwater High School. 

     Menah has been a member of the Redwater High School cheerleading team for four years, where she presides as captain and earned state recognition the last two years. She is also a four-year member of Redwater track, where she holds three school records and advanced to regionals the last three years, and a two-year member of Redwater basketball, where she earned Academic All-District.

      Academically, she is a member of Key Club, UIL social studies, Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society, where she is the historian. 

     Menah will be attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville this fall to pursue a major in business and marketing. After college, Menah plans to travel abroad and work for a major fashion company.

 

    ABIGAIL MORROW is the daughter of Ricky and Angel Morrow. She is graduating with a 3.96 GPA, has earned 24 college credit hours and is ninth in her class at Redwater High School. 

     Morrow is a four-year member of the Redwater cheerleading squad, where she presides as captain and earned state recognition the last two years. She is also a member of Redwater’s volleyball team, where she earned Academic All-District, and Second Team All-District honors. She is a two-time District Champ in tennis and a regional qualifier for the years of  2021-2022. 

     Academically, Morow is a member of Key Club, HOSA and National Honor Society, where she serves as the treasurer, Spanish Honor Society and a member of the UIL social studies team.

     Morrow received the Eagle Elite Scholarship and plans to attend Texas A & M, Texarkana in the fall, where she will pursue a degree in elementary education. 

 

    GRACIE ALDRIDGE is the daughter of Jake and Stacey Aldridge. She is graduating with a 3.94 GPA, 24 college credit hours and is tenth in her class at Redwater High School.

    Aldridge is a four-year member of the Redwater softball team, where she received 1st Team All-District Pitcher.

     Academically, she is a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society and HOSA, where she serves as treasurer. 

Aldridge received the Gold Tier One Scholarship, as well as an Honors Academic Scholarship to Texas A & M University in Commerce, where she plans to attend in the fall and major in nursing. After college, Aldridge plans to practice as a CRNA.

Redwater’s senior class outdid themselves this year. They received a total of $3,052,290 in scholarships this year, more than twice the amount awarded to last year’s graduating class. 

     Four members of the senior class have also chosen to serve their county in the military. Alisha Burgess will be serving in the United States Navy, Dakota Williams will be serving in the United States Army and Autumn Lavigne and Christopher Giambrone will be serving in the United States Marines.
