Redwater, TX – Redwater Independent School District recently named their campus and district Teachers of the Year.
Campus Teachers of the Year are:
Michelle Whitman, a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher from Redwater Elementary School, who is in her 19th year of teaching, six with RISD. Whitman holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood from Southern Nazarene University and a Master of Science in Education from Walden University;
Casey Pitman, with Redwater Intermediate School, who currently serves as a 6th Grade Reading and Language Arts Teacher. He also serves as the Spelling Bee Coordinator and UIL Chess Coach. Pitman is in his 16th year of teaching and has been with RISD for 11 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Juris Doctorate from University of Arkansas;
Linda Edwards, from Redwater Junior High School, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Texas A&M University - Texarkana, a Master of Education in Secondary Curriculum from University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Master of Education in Administration from Framingham State University. She is in her 37th year of teaching with nine years at RISD as an English Language Arts and Reading Teacher;
Jessica Davis, with Redwater High School, who has nine years of experience in teaching, all with RISD. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University and teaches Family and Consumer Sciences. Additionally, Davis serves as the Career and Technology Education Department Chair and Advisor for the Family Career and Community Leaders of America and Texas Association of Future Educators.
District Teachers of the Year are Michelle Whitman (Elementary) and Casey Pitman (Secondary). Both will move forward for consideration as Region VIII Teacher of the Year.
